Save the date to join your fellow YACers and YAC advisors from around the state for the 2024 Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference! Youth advisory council members associated with community foundations around Michigan and the U.S. are welcome to attend with their advisors.
Supporting Rural Communities: A CMF Member Gathering
Join your rural philanthropy peers in person to discuss around. The purpose of this gathering will be to empower foundation staff and trustees working in rural communities to connect with peers in meaningful ways and discuss opportunities and challenges related to rural infrastructure. The group will be joined by Sarah Lucas, Director of the Office of Rural Prosperity, who will share more about the trajectory of the office, what they are learning through statewide listening sessions and how philanthropy can continue to partner to lift and address issues facing their communities.
YAC Advisor Spring Training
Join your fellow YAC advisors for an opportunity to network and learn together! During this engaging in-person training, YAC advisors will learn more about the Developmental Assets Framework, which identifies 40 supports and strengths that young people need to succeed. In addition to a high-level overview of the framework and research, participants hear how a YAC has incorporated the work into their needs assessment and consider ways they can use the information in their YAC’s work. Participants will also have time to connect with peers around best practices, lessons learned and other topics of interest. This training is open to community foundation staff or volunteers who serve in a leadership or support role with their YAC.
Program Staff & Scholarship Roundtable
Join us for this virtual gathering for programming and scholarship staff to share what you’re seeing in your own work and crowdsource ideas from your peers across the state. This will be an open space for discussion, so please bring your questions, concerns and highlights from your own work to share with the group. As we continue our collective equity journey, we invite you to bring forward equity-related topics to our roundtables throughout the year. This conversation is open to all CMF members whether your work touches programming or you have a dedicated programming role.
Exploring Pay Philosophies, Pay Transparency and Inclusive Staff Benefits
You’re invited to join this virtual gathering hosted by the CMF Talent & Human Resources Affinity Group, open to all CMF members whether you have a dedicated role in HR or this area is one of many responsibilities you hold. Together we'll engage in dialogue on pay philosophies and what it looks like to bring an equity-centered lens to your organization’s decision making related to paying a living wage and market rates, inclusive benefits, pay transparency and beyond. This session features expert insights from a nonprofit compensation consultant and an opportunity for peer sharing of related foundation practices. Then, stay on to engage in open space for discussion on other people-centered topics - please bring any questions you’re wrestling with and highlights from your work to share.
