About the Event

Join your peers for an in-person meeting hosted by the P-20 Education Affinity Group, the Governor’s Office of Foundation Liaison and the Southeast Michigan Early Childhood Funders Collaborative to learn more about recruitment and retention efforts for teachers and early care providers, particularly teachers and providers of color.

In Michigan, the rate of teachers exiting their district or the state altogether is increasing, particularly in low-income districts. Additionally, Black, Latinx and Asian educators are leaving the teaching profession at a higher rate than their White peers. Come learn about what programs are working across the state and what role philanthropy has in reversing these trends to ensure Michigan is a hub for the best educators and early care providers.

A boxed lunch will be provided at the end for those who want to stay and network, or take with you for the trip home.

We will be hosting this session in the Romney Building in downtown Lansing. Please allow yourself additional time to park and check in with security. A state ID will be needed to check in.
