Foundations in Lansing: Mental Health Conversations with Policymakers
Join your Michigan philanthropy peers engaged in mental health-related efforts and meet with selected state legislators on mental health policy issues. Conversations and storytelling will be focused on, but not limited to, mental health work, including efforts in destigmatizing mental health, expanding access to mental health services and supporting community-based mental health programs. We will meet with selected state legislators engaged in health policy making, so a broader range of discussion is welcome. We will also learn about legislative priorities in mental health policy and deepen connections with policymakers working to shape Michigan's health systems and outcomes.
Latinx Nonprofit & Funder Gathering: Building Community
Join us for our second statewide gathering of Latinx nonprofit and philanthropy leaders, hosted by CMF’s Latinx Affinity Network! Recruiting and Retaining Education Talent in MI
Join your peers for an in-person meeting hosted by the P-20 Education Affinity Group, the Governor’s Office of Foundation Liaison and the Southeast Michigan Early Childhood Funders Collaborative to learn more about recruitment and retention efforts for teachers and early care providers, particularly teachers and providers of color.
YAC Advisor Spring Training
Join your fellow YAC advisors for an opportunity to network and learn together! During this engaging in-person training, YAC advisors will learn more about the Developmental Assets Framework, which identifies 40 supports and strengths that young people need to succeed. In addition to a high-level overview of the framework and research, participants hear how a YAC has incorporated the work into their needs assessment and consider ways they can use the information in their YAC’s work. Participants will also have time to connect with peers around best practices, lessons learned and other topics of interest. This training is open to community foundation staff or volunteers who serve in a leadership or support role with their YAC.
Technology Roundtable
Join us for a virtual gathering to discuss technology and software, share what you’re seeing in your own work and crowdsource ideas from your fellow peers across the state. This will be an open space for discussion so please bring your questions, concerns and highlights from your own work to share with the group. As we continue our collective equity journey, we invite you to bring forward equity-related topics to our roundtables throughout the year. This conversation is open to all CMF members whether your work touches technology, you have a dedicated technology role or you just want to pick up a few tips from our technology experts.

Join us for this virtual gathering for programming and scholarship staff to share what you’re seeing in your own work and crowdsource ideas from your peers across the state. This will be an open space for discussion, so please bring your questions, concerns and highlights from your own work to share with the group. As we continue our collective equity journey, we invite you to bring forward equity-related topics to our roundtables throughout the year. Join your Michigan philanthropy peers engaged in supporting workforce needs. Conversations and storytelling will be focused on, but not limited to, talent attraction and retention, training, and workforce housing supported by Michigan philanthropy. We will meet with selected state legislators engaged in these policy-making areas, so a broader range of discussion is welcome. This is an opportunity to highlight Michigan philanthropy’s work towards equitable opportunities for the jobs of today and the jobs of tomorrow. We will also learn about legislative priorities in education and deepen connections with policymakers working to shape the future of the workforce in Michigan.
Impactful Storytelling: Using Data to Tell Stories of Change
You’re invited to join this virtual gathering hosted by the CMF Learning & Evaluation peer community, open to all CMF members. Together we'll learn about and explore ideas for collecting data and using data in storytelling, and we’ll hear how other organizations have told stories of impact using data. We’ll also discuss trust-based evaluation approaches to gather meaningful qualitative and quantitative data while thoughtfully reducing the lift on nonprofit partners. This session features expert insights from a research, strategy and evaluation consulting firm and foundation peers, with ample opportunity for Q&A.
Making the Case for Trust-Based Philanthropy: An Equity Signature Series Workshop
As trust-based philanthropy gains recognition across the sector, more funders, individual donors and grantmaking professionals are getting curious about this as an approach to alleviate power imbalances and advance community impact. While many leaders and practitioners have a base-level understanding of why trust-based philanthropy is the way to go, many are still grappling with how to make the case to their peers. This can be especially challenging given the range of misperceptions, critiques and questions that come up for those who are less familiar with trust-based philanthropy.

Join the Green and Blue Network for a virtual discussion about health and environmental issues in Michigan and learn from and engage with leaders from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Michigan Environmental Council, Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition and The Nature Conservancy.
