The Skillman Foundation Announces Inaugural Vice President of Learning & Impact and Vice President of Communications
The Skillman Foundation has elevated the roles of learning and communications, acknowledging the importance and impact of these functions in advancing systems and social change strategies. The foundation promoted Natalie Fotias, previously director of communications, to Vice President of Communications. The foundation also welcomed Laila Bell, who will serve as its Inaugural Vice President of Learning & Impact. CMF is excited to welcome Laila to our community of philanthropy!
Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation Welcomes New CEO
The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation has named Alysha Pasquali as its new Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer. We look forward to welcoming Alysha to our Michigan community of philanthropy!
Legislation Under Consideration Aimed to Increase Donor Base and Charitable Giving
A proven effective tool to incentivize giving is once again being considered by the Michigan Legislature. If reinstated, the Michigan Charitable Tax Credit would provide pathways to giving for families of all income levels in the state. Plus, many CMF members were on Capitol Hill as new federal legislation was unveiled to support charitable giving.

Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan Youth-Led Grants Support Mental Health and Anti-Violence
The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan (CFSEM) announced several youth-led grants in support of ongoing mental health and anti-violence efforts throughout the region it serves. The grants come from a $100,000 pool of money initiated and overseen by CFSEM’s Youth Advisory Committee after the shooting at Oxford High School in November 2021.
