This new publication honors the innovative leadership of CMF members, and the many unique ways philanthropy peers are working together and with their communities to make Michigan a place where all can thrive.

This guide is designed to support Youth Advisory Council (YAC) advisors in leading a youth philanthropy council. It can also be a resource for anyone engaged in the youth philanthropy atmosphere as a tool for sparking ideas and additional learning.

This resource is intended to explore frequently asked questions involved in managing disaster funds, specifically issues of concern to private foundations, community foundations, corporate foundation/giving programs and other public charities that manage grantmaking.

This document is a reference tool for considering which philanthropic giving structure is most appropriate to the unique situation and priorities of these individuals and families.

Best practices are operational standards for community foundation YACs and YACers to make the YAC organization and its members the most effective grantmakers and community leaders possible.

It has been 20 years since the launch of the Michigan Community Foundations’ Youth Project (MCFYP), a groundbreaking effort to spread youth philanthropy throughout Michigan’s community foundations and all 83 counties.
