Recruiting and Retaining Education Talent in MI

YAC Advisor Spring Training
Join your fellow YAC advisors for an opportunity to network and learn together! During this engaging in-person training, YAC advisors will learn more about the Developmental Assets Framework, which identifies 40 supports and strengths that young people need to succeed. In addition to a high-level overview of the framework and research, participants hear how a YAC has incorporated the work into their needs assessment and consider ways they can use the information in their YAC’s work. Participants will also have time to connect with peers around best practices, lessons learned and other topics of interest. This training is open to community foundation staff or volunteers who serve in a leadership or support role with their YAC.
Program Staff & Scholarship Roundtable
Join us for this virtual gathering for programming and scholarship staff to share what you’re seeing in your own work and crowdsource ideas from your peers across the state. This will be an open space for discussion, so please bring your questions, concerns and highlights from your own work to share with the group. As we continue our collective equity journey, we invite you to bring forward equity-related topics to our roundtables throughout the year. This conversation is open to all CMF members whether your work touches programming or you have a dedicated programming role.
Impactful Storytelling: Using Data to Tell Stories of Change
You’re invited to join this virtual gathering hosted by the CMF Learning & Evaluation peer community, open to all CMF members. Together we'll learn about and explore ideas for collecting data and using data in storytelling, and we’ll hear how other organizations have told stories of impact using data. We’ll also discuss trust-based evaluation approaches to gather meaningful qualitative and quantitative data while thoughtfully reducing the lift on nonprofit partners. This session features expert insights from a research, strategy and evaluation consulting firm and foundation peers, with ample opportunity for Q&A.
Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference 2024
Save the date to join your fellow YACers and YAC advisors from around the state for the 2024 Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference! Youth advisory council members associated with community foundations around Michigan and the U.S. are welcome to attend with their advisors.
Making the Case for Trust-Based Philanthropy: An Equity Signature Series Workshop
As trust-based philanthropy gains recognition across the sector, more funders, individual donors and grantmaking professionals are getting curious about this as an approach to alleviate power imbalances and advance community impact. While many leaders and practitioners have a base-level understanding of why trust-based philanthropy is the way to go, many are still grappling with how to make the case to their peers. This can be especially challenging given the range of misperceptions, critiques and questions that come up for those who are less familiar with trust-based philanthropy.
