Reimagining Engagement with and Investment in Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Communities: An Equity Signature Series Event
Where do Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities belong in grantmaking strategies? For Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), a national membership-based organization and CMF partner dedicated to expanding and mobilizing philanthropic resources to AA and NHPI communities, the answer is profoundly simple; AA and NHPI communities are core partners in advancing racial equity and justice. In this session, AAPIP will present data illustrating the underinvestment of philanthropic dollars in AA and NHPI communities, reasons why these communities are overlooked in racial justice strategies, and the power of organizing identity-based spaces.
Unpacking the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference
Leaders from the Michigan Department of Treasury, State Budget Office and Senate and House Fiscal Agencies meet to forecast the U.S. and Michigan economies and state government revenues during the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference (CREC). Join us for this special CMF member conversation to hear from State Treasurer and Conference Chair Rachael Eubanks and State Budget Director Chris Harkins as they walk us through the highlights from the most recent CREC, share the economic outlook for the state and provide estimates for the current state budget and revenues for future years.
NCFP Series | Managing Family Dynamics in Governance
Reaching consensus is difficult, particularly during a decision-making moment that will have a real impact on your philanthropy. How do you have productive conversations during meetings and other decision points when there are relationship dynamics, conflict, or simply differences of opinion? How do you allow for individual viewpoints across generations, but ensure there is a framework in place to push the collective goals of the philanthropy forward? Are there tips to facilitate productive meetings, especially when there are complex family dynamics at play? Learn strategies to manage dynamics, build in moments for family connection, and facilitate group decision-making.
Learning and Evaluation Roundtable
How do we engage with program staff and boards in our organizations to support a culture of learning and learn from evaluation? How do we utilize what we learn to guide grantmaking and take action for impact? Join us for this quarterly virtual gathering to discuss what you’re seeing in your own work and hear from your peers across the state about what has worked for them.
Midwest Family Foundation Webinar Series | Balancing Key Talent, Competitiveness and Philosophy: How to Manage Executive Pay in Today’s Family Foundation Environment
Join us for a discussion about current and emerging trends of greatest impact for family foundations. This session will address challenges in compensation where questions most arise, such as how to determine disqualified persons and reasonableness for foundation executives, including family members. The panel will also answer questions to address key topics such as how to prepare for pay transparency, how to determine salary budgets within the current economics and how to align your compensation philosophy to attract and retain talent.
Technology Roundtable
Join us for a virtual gathering to discuss technology and software, share what you’re seeing in your own work and crowdsource ideas from your fellow peers across the state. This will be an open space for discussion so please bring your questions, concerns and highlights from your own work to share with the group. As we continue our collective equity journey, we invite you to bring forward equity-related topics to our roundtables throughout the year. This conversation is open to all CMF members whether your work touches technology, you have a dedicated technology role or you just want to pick up a few tips from our technology experts.
