About the Event
Back in 2024, before the elections, Marguerite Casey Foundation engaged in scenario planning exercises with their stakeholders to envision various future administrations. The result was, among other things, clarity, agility, and steadiness in responding to today’s attacks on communities and philanthropy, with a continued focus on the organization’s values and impact in facing the current crises. Join us for a conversation on how foundations can prepare to be courageous now and in the future, and what that looks like in terms of supporting nonprofit partners working on community organizing and advancing a vibrant multiracial democracy.
About CMF's Queity Signature Series
Over the course of the year, you’re invited to engage in a special slate of conversations and deep learning centered in equity, and racial equity imperatively. We’re featuring thought leaders from Michigan and across the country in a series of virtual programs that deeply explore and examine the ways that we can, and must, move the needle to advance systemic change. This CMF signature series will be a time to ask ourselves the hard questions, challenge our thinking, inspire action and lift up the work of foundations, nonprofits and other peers and partners as we learn from and with each other on our journeys to advance equity.

Carmen Rojas
Dr. Carmen Rojas is the president and CEO of Marguerite Casey Foundation. Under her leadership, the foundation launched the prestigious Freedom Scholar award, and since starting in 2020 granted more than $165M in funding to dozens of organizations doing the hard work of shifting power to those people who have long been excluded from having it. Prior to MCF, Dr. Rojas was the co-founder and CEO of the Workers Lab, an innovation lab that partners with workers to develop new ideas that help them succeed and flourish.

Stacy Stout
Stacy Stout (moderator) is the Director of Family-Centered Philanthropy at the Steelcase Foundation, where she leads the Investment in Families Initiative (https://www.steelcasefoundation.org/investment-in-families-initiative/), a transformative 10-year, $10 million effort. This initiative collaborates with 30 mothers from Kent County, MI, and community partners to examine how policies affect families over time, co-create actions to shift system behaviors, and advocate for changes that better serve Michigan families. Stacy also serves as co-chair of the CMF Latinx Affinity Network and is the co-founder of the Latina Network of West Michigan, a regional catalyst for systemic change through leadership development, fostering cultural belonging, and reclaiming diverse Latina narratives.
