About the Event

Join youth philanthropists and adult allies from around the state for the 2025 Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference! Youth who are involved in grantmaking activities at foundations are welcome to attend with their adult advisors. This year's conference will be centered on the theme Untitled: writing our own script.
This year's conference will take place at Saginaw Valley State University. We are excited about this new location, which offers updated amenities and a larger space, creating a more inclusive and dynamic environment for attendees.
For the first time, non-advisor foundation staff who are interested in the youth advisor curriculum will be invited to participate. In the spirit of the original W.K. Kellogg challenge grant, we are excited to foster and encourage a youth-centered approach to philanthropy, uplifting youth leadership and engagement in their local foundations.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Through the Michigan Community Foundation's Youth Project, the Council of Michigan Foundations will provide scholarships based on demonstrated need. Limited scholarships are available for eligible attendees to help offset the cost of attending. Priority will be given to community foundations with a lower overall asset size and/or smaller YAC operating budget and YACs who have not been able to attend the conference in recent years.
The deadline to complete the application is May 20th. Those that complete the application will be contacted with a decision by May 27th. This year, funds will be provided directly to the community foundation via check or ACH payment.
Please contact Meredith Rogan at [email protected] with any questions.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
CMF continues to prioritize the well-being of members, staff, partners and communities. The following measures reflect our in-person event health and safety procedures:
- Any registrant who is feeling unwell, who has tested positive for an illness in the 10 days prior to the event or who is showing symptoms and awaiting test results is asked not to attend.
- If a registrant is unable to attend due to illness, they are invited to transfer their registration to another individual within their organization or CMF can refund the registration if there was a cost. Please notify CMF via [email protected] with a request to transfer or refund your registration.
- All attendees will be invited to wear one of three color-coded lanyards to indicate to other attendees their personal comfort with in-person interaction: red (greet from six feet), yellow (elbows only), green (high-fives permitted).
- CMF staff will have hand sanitizer and extra masks available at the event.
