Dr. Brittany Kienker is Principal and Owner of Kienker Consulting LLC and Knowledge Insights Expert in Residence at CMF. Brittany brings more than 15 years of experience in foundations, nonprofits and higher education. Brittany is our lead researcher for operational insights for CMF members, including salary and benefits benchmarking data, board policies and procedures, conflict of interest and self-dealing situations, succession planning and beyond. She also supports the curation and development of CMF’s Knowledge Center resources and Sample Documents Hub. 

Jennifer Oertel is a shareholder and attorney in the law firm of Bodman PLC, where she leads the firm’s Tax-exempt Organizations and Impact Investing Group. She also serves as CMF’s Impact Investing Expert in Residence – the first such role in the country. Jennifer provides impact investing assistance and resources to members, as well as anyone located in Michigan and those seeking to make impact investments in our state.

As our new Philanthropic Practice Expert in Residence (EIR), Jennifer Heymoss, is here to serve as a resource for you, your staff and your trustees in advancing equity-centered grantmaking and governance. Jen will engage with all in our CMF community, especially organizations with smaller staffs or no staff, to provide on-demand support and resources on current and emerging equitable practices in the sector. The Philanthropic Practice EIR provides research, resources, practical models and impactful frameworks that will help philanthropic leaders and practitioners build their capacities in applying an equity lens to all dimensions of a philanthropic enterprise (i.e., grantmaking, community engagement, investments, trustee recruitment and support).
