Describe what you do in your role.

I assist the Office of Foundation Liaison (OFL) team in stewarding relationships with government departmental staff based on policy issues and foster a regular cadence for funder engagement strategy with the governor’s administration in coordination with the OFL team. I communicate and coordinate information between the OFL team members, the Council of Michigan Foundations’ staff, and program participants. I serve as the primary administrative support for the foundation liaison, Karen Aldridge-Eason, and the Director of Research and Planning, Dana Linnane, and as staff liaison to the Foundation Liaison Advisory Committee.

What do you enjoy the most about your work?

I enjoy meeting new people and making new connections, while learning how our philanthropy partners are working to better the lives of children and families in Michigan. I also really enjoy planning meetings and events for our members and partners and I love to learn new skills.

What are the causes you’re most passionate about?

Early Childhood Education Reform/Expansion, Behavioral Health (Easier and expanded access for those in need), Affordable Housing for all and holding landlords accountable

What inspires, challenges, or motivates you?

My young adult children both inspire and motivate me to try to be the best version of myself I can, through their support, grace, wisdom, and creativity. What challenges me the most is injustice around some of my passion arenas and trying to navigate how I can actually be a part of the change.

What do you love about Michigan?

The beauty of Northern Michigan: the lakes, rivers, landscapes, and all the cute little towns to go and spend a “day on their Main Street.” Michigan is a beautiful state, and I want to continue to explore all of it and have many adventures; in all four seasons.
