Vanessa Ferguson has over fifteen years of experience working in the nonprofit field. Her experience includes time working in development at Michigan State University and serving as the communication manager for the Yes We Can grant program with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
Her consulting experience includes providing one-on-one services to nonprofits along with facilitating training through the BEST Project in Flint, the United Way of Genesee County, the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association, AmeriCorps and the Michigan Association of United Ways. She has also conducted marketing and communication training for business organizations at the local and state level.
In addition to her consulting experience, she worked as a writer and education project coordinator for over ten years with Michigan Government Television, a network modeled from C-SPAN. In this role, she worked with education, nonprofit and governmental agencies to coordinate statewide programs.
Besides her activities in the nonprofit realm, she works as a communication instructor at Mott Community College in Flint. Vanessa received her bachelor’s degree in communication from the Honors Scholar Program at the University of Michigan-Flint. She also holds two master’s degrees, one in communication from Michigan State University and a second from Eastern Michigan University in public administration.
