About

Working at CMF

We have physical office spaces in Detroit, Grand Rapids and Lansing while maintaining a strong statewide presence through virtual and in-person connections and engagements. CMF supports our staff by fostering a flexible and supportive work environment that promotes a healthy work-life balance and physical and mental well-being. CMF strives to offer compensation and benefits packages that are competitive with other nonprofit organizations in Michigan. As an organization committed to learning and continuous improvement, we ensure our staff is well-equipped with tailored professional development opportunities to support their growth as leaders in the nonprofit sector.

SUPPORTING EMERGING LEADERS

CMF Member Sponsored Fellowships

CMF’s fellowship program, which is sponsored by CMF members, is designed to support emerging leaders with the experience and skills to advance their careers in the sector while making meaningful contributions to their home foundation and the larger nonprofit community. Each cohort of fellows supports areas of work at their sponsoring foundation and receives comprehensive, wrap-around professional development support from CMF.

CMF is grateful for the generous support of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation (RCWJF) for sponsoring our current cohort of Philanthropy Fellows. The fellows are embedded in the RCWJF's Program team, supporting the grantmaking activities of the foundation while receiving professional development through CMF.

The William C. Richardson Philanthropy and Public Policy Fellowship is funded through an endowment established by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) in honor of the late Dr. William C. Richardson, former president and CEO of WKKF and a former trustee of CMF. The goal of the fellowship is to engage future policymakers in the philanthropic sector to learn about our role in influencing state and federal policy, how to partner with state government and to gain a deeper understanding of philanthropy.

Our newest fellowships are supported by The Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation. These Philanthropy Fellows will support the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation (Erb Family Foundation) in leveraging the good work that is already underway in Southeast Michigan. One fellow will be embedded in the Great Lakes grantmaking program team and one will support the Arts, Sustainable Business, and Environmental Health & Justice grantmaking programs.
