Foundations in Lansing: Before and After School Time Conversations with Policymakers
Join your Michigan philanthropy peers engaged in education work. Conversations and storytelling will be focused on, but not limited to, before and after-school programming supported by Michigan philanthropy. We will meet with selected state legislators engaged in education policy making, so a broader range of discussion is welcome. This is an opportunity to highlight Michigan philanthropy’s work towards equitable education policies, systems and programs that ensure every child and young adult across the state of Michigan, regardless of their race, socioeconomic status, address or disability status, has the resources to achieve at their highest potential. We will also learn about legislative priorities in education and deepen connections with policymakers working to shape the future of education in Michigan.

YAC Advisor Spring Training
Join your fellow YAC advisors for an opportunity to network and learn together! During this engaging in-person training, YAC advisors will learn more about the Developmental Assets Framework, which identifies 40 supports and strengths that young people need to succeed. In addition to a high-level overview of the framework and research, participants hear how a YAC has incorporated the work into their needs assessment and consider ways they can use the information in their YAC’s work. Participants will also have time to connect with peers around best practices, lessons learned and other topics of interest. This training is open to community foundation staff or volunteers who serve in a leadership or support role with their YAC.
Program Staff & Scholarship Roundtable
Join us for this virtual gathering for programming and scholarship staff to share what you’re seeing in your own work and crowdsource ideas from your peers across the state. This will be an open space for discussion, so please bring your questions, concerns and highlights from your own work to share with the group. As we continue our collective equity journey, we invite you to bring forward equity-related topics to our roundtables throughout the year. This conversation is open to all CMF members whether your work touches programming or you have a dedicated programming role.
