Philanthropy's Role in Shaping Public Funding for Equitable Outcomes
Join CMF and the Statewide Equity Fund Working Group for a fireside chat with Angela Glover Blackwell, Founder in Residence at PolicyLink, to discuss insights gained from her work as a policy advocate, activist and social justice leader, learn more about PolicyLink's partnership with the Urban Institute in measuring equity impacts in federal policy and philanthropy's role in shaping the equitable outcome of public dollars.
Exploring Access to Quality Health Care
CMF's Health Affinity Group, the Safety Net Work Group and the Governor’s Office of Foundation Liaison invite you to join your peers as we unpack issues related to the social safety net, health and health care access—priority among the group is the “unwinding” of Medicaid, i.e., the ending of expanded access to benefits during the pandemic. Michiganders will either lose access or will need to re-enroll. During this virtual briefing, you’ll hear from national, state and community leaders as they offer updates to the process, overview barriers to access, share how Michigan compares to other states and brainstorm the role that philanthropy can play to ensure access to quality health care. We’ll also take time to discuss health priority areas among funders. Join us!
Development Staff Roundtable
Join us for this in-person gathering for development professionals to discuss what you’re seeing in your work and crowdsource ideas from your peers across the state. This will be a space for participants to share stories and advice from their experiences in the field and you will have an opportunity to share your ideas for topics during the registration process. As we continue our collective equity journey, we invite you to bring forward equity-related topics to our roundtables throughout the year. This conversation is open to all CMF members who spend time supporting fund development for their organization.

Making the Case for Trust-Based Philanthropy: An Equity Signature Series Workshop
As trust-based philanthropy gains recognition across the sector, more funders, individual donors and grantmaking professionals are getting curious about this as an approach to alleviate power imbalances and advance community impact. While many leaders and practitioners have a base-level understanding of why trust-based philanthropy is the way to go, many are still grappling with how to make the case to their peers. This can be especially challenging given the range of misperceptions, critiques and questions that come up for those who are less familiar with trust-based philanthropy.
