Florine Mark, a businesswoman and humanitarian, served on the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan Board of Trustees since 1992. She passed away last week at the age of 90.

In a statement, CFSEM remembers Florine as a pioneering entrepreneur who was active in the Jewish community.

“She served on several local and national boards and will be missed by many. We are grateful for her years of service to the community foundation and are keeping her family and friends in our thoughts,” CFSEM shared.

Born and raised in Detroit, Florine was inducted into Michigan Women Forward’s Hall of Fame in 2004.

“Florine was a fearless trailblazer and devoted friend. An incredibly savvy and successful businesswoman, she was just as committed to giving back, working with the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Institution for Children, Women of Tomorrow and other organizations. She was an icon and a leader who could encourage, empower, motivate and inspire individuals to achieve their goals and be their best selves. I am grateful to have known Florine, and I know her memory will serve as an example for Michiganders to follow. My love goes to Florine’s family,” Governor Gretchen Whitmer said.
