The Sale of Nonprofit Hospital Assets to For-Profit Corporations: Philanthropic Options for Community Decision Makers

As nonprofit hospital decision makers are being asked to make complex decisions about the sales of assets to for-profit corporations, there is often little time for community input or consideration of long-term implications.  Four models for philanthropy are presented in this paper, with examples and a description of pros and cons for each.
