In 2008, the Council of Michigan Foundations (CMF) became a prominent advocate for equity in the sector when it launched its ambitious Transforming Michigan Philanthropy initiative. With objectives that included increasing member awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion and a goal of becoming a more diverse and inclusive organization itself, CMF undertook a six-year program of research, education, and communication focused on embracing and leveraging the power of differences.
