The Children's Foundation works with caring members of our community on important initiatives that improve the health and well-being of young people and their families, particularly in Southeast Michigan. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization located in Detroit, MI.


Position Description
The Children’s Foundation is seeking highly-qualified applicants for a Development Assistant to join its team. The primary purpose of the Development Assistant is to support the Chief Development Officer (CDO) with scheduling, expenses, meeting preparation and facilitation, manage key projects and provide general administrative support to the donor relations team.

Responsibilities
  • Provides executive-level administrative support for the Chief Development Officer
  • Drafting/editing presentation materials for donors, leadership, and trustees
  • Prepares check requests for approval and transmits completed requests to accounting for payment
  • Utilizes Raiser’s Edge to support and capture donor letters, and correspondence, and update records with staff meeting summaries and actions for follow up
  • Produce meeting minutes, forms, reports, and other documents as well as proofreading and editing
  • Manages agendas and other necessary preparations for meetings
  • Coordinate virtual meetings when appropriate such as Zoom and Teams.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Possess excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Able to meet and manage multiple projects, flexible, able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Curious to learn and understand donor-centered fundraising techniques
  • Experience with using the Microsoft Office product suite
  • Proven experience as an administrative assistant
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  • Attention to detail is key, problem-solving skills and anticipating the needs of the CDO and donor relations team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and works with a sense of urgency
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage up
  • Grace under pressure
This position requires an Associate degree or equivalent work experience, Bachelor's Degree preferred. A minimum of two or more years of administrative or clerical experience, 5 years preferred.
