Speakers:

Dr. Teresa (Teri) Behrens is the Editor in Chief for The Foundation Review, published by the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI.  The Foundation Review is the first peer-reviewed journal of philanthropy, written by and for foundation staff and boards and those who work with them implementing programs.  Behrens joined the Johnson Center in January 2009.  Previously she served as the director of evaluation for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, providing leadership for the foundation's overall evaluation program.  From 1995-2001, Behrens consulted in program planning and evaluation for organizations such as the National Science Foundation-supported Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers.  From 1990-1995, she was a program officer for the Michigan Strategic Fund for the Michigan Department of Commerce.  Behrens holds a doctorate in psychology from North Carolina State University and a bachelor's degree in psychology and English from Case Western Reserve University.

Terry Horton is the Senior Program Advisor to Philanthropic and Nonprofit Services at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at GVSU. She received her J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Ore. and her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. Terry worked previously as Senior Consultant to The Foraker Group, a unique Alaska nonprofit support organization with over 400 nonprofit partners. She also worked for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs where she consulted nonprofit organizations in Central Asia and Russia. Terry is experienced in strategic planning, nonprofit management, program design and implementation, board development and training, and annual and planned giving.
