Remembering Sandy Katt

A champion for community and philanthropy, Sandy Katt joined CMF as the organization’s second official employee in 1975. Her service spanned 26 years before dedicating her time to work within the community of Grand Haven. We are honoring the life of Sandy as a former and beloved CMF staffer.

On behalf of the CMF Board of Trustees and the staff, it’s with a heavy heart we share the passing of long-time former and beloved CMF staffer Sandy Katt.

Sandy joined Dottie Johnson, founding president of CMF, as CMF’s second official employee in August 1975. During her incredible 26-year tenure, she served as the office manager, conference coordinator, director of corporate services and conferences and meetings and vice president of corporate services. Sandy led the development of CMF’s earliest conferences and convenings, setting the stage for the connections and shared learning opportunities our CMF community engages in today.

“I will always be grateful for her friendship, her work ethic and her creative ideas. Sandy made each and every CMF Annual Conference special, she treated each one as if she were entertaining in her home,” Dottie Johnson, president-emeritus of CMF shared.

Over the years, Sandy worked closely with CMF’s corporate philanthropy members, supporting them in their engagements and connections.

“Sandy was one of the first people I worked with at CMF. I vividly recall how energetic and helpful she was. She was committed to finding ways that CMF could be of value to corporate foundations and to me as I was learning about philanthropy. Our paths crossed later when she worked for the city, and it was such a treat to reconnect with such a vibrant and passionate champion for community and philanthropy overall,” Carolyn Bloodworth, secretary/treasurer of Consumers Energy Foundation shared.

As we come together to celebrate CMF’s 50th anniversary this fall, we will also celebrate and honor Sandy’s many contributions spanning much of our CMF community’s history during the 50th Annual Conference in Grand Rapids.

Family and friends are celebrating Sandy’s life today, September 26, at St. Patrick-St. Anthony's Catholic Parish in Grand Haven beginning at 9:30 a.m.
