The Fetzer Institute announces its Board of Trustees has elected Dan Cardinali of Washington, DC, to serve as a trustee, effective immediately.
Dan Cardinali is president and CEO of Independent Sector, the only national membership organization that brings together nonprofits, foundations, and corporations seeking to advance the common good. At Independent Sector Cardinali focuses on empowering organizations to work collaboratively to improve life and the environment for individuals and communities around the world.
"In addition to his strong professional accomplishments and deep experience managing complex organizations, Dan brings invaluable qualities of soul, a sensitivity to the humanity of others, and an inquisitive, open-minded approach to matters of ultimate concern,” noted Trustee Carolyn Brown. “He will further our capacities to be an effective organization and enrich our work of infusing heart-centered perspectives into the world.”
Before joining Independent Sector (IS) in 2016, Dan Cardinali led IS member, Communities In Schools, the nation’s largest and most effective dropout prevention organization, for 12 years after working in other positions at the organization.
Of Cardinali’s appointment, Fetzer Institute President and CEO Bob Boisture said, “Dan’s deep spiritual grounding and his passionate commitment to building community and bridging divides are essential resources for our shared vision of a more loving world. We are grateful for the gifts of his time
“I am deeply moved by the Fetzer Institute’s mission both in its boldness and inclusivity,” said Cardinali. “We live in a pluralistic world that has many ways of finding truth and expressing love. The Fetzer Institute’s clear-eyed vision for building the spiritual foundation for a loving world is simply worth dedicating myself to and allowing it to animate my personal and professional commitments. I am utterly grateful to have this opportunity to serve as a trustee in such an endeavor.”
Cardinali is a 2007 Annie E. Casey Children and Families Fellow, serves on the advisory boards of HBS Social Enterprise Initiative, Alliance for Strong Families, Big Bets for Social Change, and Project Evident.
