Marketing and Events Officer, Kalamazoo Community Foundation

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Marketing/Brand

  • Assists in developing, enhancing, implementing and evaluating the Community Foundation’s marketing strategy and ensures it is consistent with the organization’s brand
  • Assists in developing, enhancing, implementing and evaluating the brand identity, customer journey, and audience profiles
  • Assists in developing and evaluating market research and surveys

Content/Collateral Development

  • Creates publications, advertising, collateral and other materials as identified or needed by the organization
  • Ensures the timely production, mailing and distribution of publications
  • Creates and distributes email blasts to targeted audiences
  • Develops and distributes digital content (written and/or video) for organization’s knowledge base to support the cultivation process of prospective donors, professional advisors, and scholarship recipients

Media Buy/Sponsorships

  • Develops media buy campaigns and placement for local, regional and national levels that aligns with organization’s marketing strategy
  • Develops, executes and monitors paid targeted digital campaigns
  • Leads Sponsorship Committee in supporting events/initiatives that provide the most exposure and engagement opportunity that aligns with Community Foundation’s strategic objectives
  • Special Events & Meeting Spaces
  • Plays a primary role in the planning and execution of external organization-wide special events such as, but not limited to, the Community Meeting
  • Provides support in the promotion, planning and execution of Community Investment and Donor Relations special events
  • Manage requests and communications for external meeting space use at the Community Foundation
  • Develops creative marketing tactics to engage external audiences who reserve meeting spaces at the Community Foundation
  • Performs special projects as directed by the Director, Marketing Communications

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • BA degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant work experience;
  • Experience relating to diverse groups of people and professionals in a variety of fields, such as not-for-profit
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and developing and leading across marketing channels that engage, educate and motivate;
  • Must be creative, flexible and highly organized and must have strong written and oral communication skills; must have the ability to manage multiple projects
  • simultaneously; and the ability to understand the products, services and mission of the organization
  • Proven professional with 5 or more years of experience in one or more of following areas:
    • Marketing communications and/or public relations
    • Journalism
    • Project management
    • Event planning
  • Effective and competent in personal abilities to guide and direct others
  • Knowledge/understanding of computers including general business software such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Portfolio of applicable marketing work from current or past employment (i.e. marketing campaigns, advertising budget, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva or similar graphic design software
  • Strong understanding of website analytics tools (i.e. Google Analytics) and setting up Google Adwords
  • A sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and witty communication
Salary & Benefits: 

Salary: $63,800 - $76,500
