Chief Financial Officer, Community Foundation for Muskegon County

Founded in 1961, the Community Foundation for Muskegon County has been a community convener, a bold leader, and a catalyst for change for 58 years. The Foundation’s leadership goals – building an inclusive community, creating hope and opportunity for youth, and collaborative decision making for the common good  – shape the Foundation’s priorities and grantmaking.  Downtown redevelopment, game-changing education initiatives like the Muskegon Area Promise and children’s savings accounts, and economic development programs through GROW and Northern Initiatives are all examples of significant community investment by the Foundation.

The Community Foundation holds over 1,170 funds with assets topping $223 million and awarded over $11 million in grants and scholarships in 2017. The Community Foundation also includes affiliates in Mason and Oceana counties. The Community Foundation for Muskegon County is accredited by the Community Foundations National Standards Board.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating the Community Foundation’s financial functions. Oversees and manages all activities related to accounting, asset management, budget, accounts payable and financial reporting. Responsible for reporting financial condition to Board of Trustees and providing related advice and guidance. Oversees management of investments, and preparations for external audits and evaluations. Ensures all financial and accounting procedures, systems, and records are in accordance with accepted standards, government regulations, and contractual obligations. Responsible for assigned administrative functions including filing of regulatory reports. Serves in a leadership role for Human Resources and Information Technology.
