Retreats

Specialized retreats provide CMF members with an extended opportunity to connect in a community of their peers, network, learn and share ideas on topics that are timely and relevant to their work.

Our current retreat offerings include:

Family Foundation Retreat

This popular, biennial retreat offers exceptional learning and networking opportunities for both adults and youth along with plenty of social time and outdoor adventures. Sessions led by national experts on family philanthropy engage adults on issues such as multi-generational philanthropy, achieving impact and succession planning. The youth participants have an up-close chance to learn about grantmaking through site visits, reviewing and awarding grants and participating in a community service project.

Community Foundation Retreat

Michigan community foundation staff and trustees attend this biennial retreat to network with peers and learn about emerging topics in the field of community foundation philanthropy. The retreat, open to all Community Foundation staff, rotates locations across the state and is hosted by an individual or group of local community foundations.

Summer Youth Leadership Conference

More than 300 youth grantmakers and advisors from Michigan and around the country gather for this annual weekend conference to discuss issues surrounding youth philanthropy. This high energy event is planned and managed by the Michigan Community Foundations' Youth Project Committee with the support of CMF staff.

Corporate Philanthropy Retreat

This day-long retreat launches in 2016 and is geared towards bringing CMF corporate members together for a day of peer learning and group discussion around corporate philanthropy strategy, programming and execution.
