About the Event

Join your Michigan philanthropy peers engaged in housing work and meet with selected state legislators working on housing issues for this in-person event in our 2023 Foundations in Lansing series. Housing is a timely, important topic in Lansing right now, and this is an opportunity for philanthropy to engage and shape the discussion for solutions. Housing issues are affecting communities across Michigan, and that is reflected in both state legislative chambers making housing policy a focus in their committee structures. MSHDA's release of Michigan's first-ever state-wide housing plan also creates a road map of opportunities. This an opportunity for lawmakers to hear from you about the challenges and opportunities philanthropy is hearing about in the communities you work in and with. During these meetings, we can highlight Michigan philanthropy’s work towards policies, programs, and partnerships that address structural and systemic barriers to affordable, stable, and accessible housing, which is foundational to economic prosperity. This may include discussions around workforce housing, the "missing middle," affordable housing and homelessness. We will also learn about legislative priorities and deepen connections with policymakers working to address Michigan's housing crisis.
