Now that we’re in the 2019-2020 school year, Michigan third graders who are more than one grade level behind in reading will be required to repeat the third grade. With the third-grade reading law in effect, what gaps or needs have been identified? This session is for all funders no matter what area of education you support, as early literacy is the foundation for student success. We will share how Michigan philanthropy can connect third graders with opportunities to go beyond proficiency and excel in literacy. In this session you will hear research from Launch Michigan’s early literacy committee, stories about the children and communities most affected and peer case studies to scale up solutions.
This session was designed by the P-20 Education Affinity Group.
