About the Event
Advocacy can be one of philanthropy's most impactful tools for advancing systemic change. It helps organizations leverage limited grant dollars to meet their mission. Philanthropy is uniquely positioned to help shape policy at the local, state and federal levels by elevating the voices and lived experiences of the communities it works alongside. Despite these benefits, new research commissioned by Independent Sector finds significant declines in nonprofit advocacy and policy engagement over the last 20 years.
CMF's Government Relations Public Policy team invites you to join this virtual conversation to learn more about the ins and outs of policy engagement. While we welcome all CMF members, the conversation is designed for those who are earlier in their advocacy journey. We will provide a primer on the legal parameters for engagement, highlight examples of how CMF members have used their voices for advocacy and help you better understand how to connect productively with policymakers.
