Learning to Give
Here's what I can help you with:
Lesson plan and resource searches, connecting with fellow educators or local nonprofits, organizing staff training or professional development workshops.
Get to know Katelyn:
What do you do all day long?
I write, create and organize! I manage our social media, newsletter, and other content; act as the point of contact for our team of Ambassadors; talk to teachers and other nonprofit partners; and work closely with the executive director to strategize about ways to make sure more young people feel like what they do matters in society.
What’s the best part of your job?
I get to work with the people who have a huge influence on the next generation - educators/teachers/parents.
Favorite flavor of ice cream?
Mint chocolate chip
What music are you streaming?
I have a toddler ... so we listen to a lot of Disney movie soundtracks. Frozen and Sing are favorites!
Why do you love where you live?
I'm in Holland and we're only a few miles from the state park and Lake Michigan. It's wonderful to get outdoors to walk, bike, people watch, etc.
If you could choose a super power, what would it be?
Rather than super power, I'd want a wizard power ... it would be lovely to be able to disapparate (spin on the spot in one place and appear in another re: Harry Potter)
Favorite book from childhood?
The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss (the first book I could read on my own ... mostly memorized, but still!)
I read the Harry Potter series every year. I don't have a specific favorite, but I do a lot of reading! Historical fiction, suspense, and books about writing are my go to.
Tropical. No internet or phone.
Reading, writing, going on walks or bike rides with our toddler and dog, baking, and sewing, Netflix watching.
