Get to know Brittany:
What do you actually do all day long?
I work with CMF and its members to address their pressing technical assistance questions, while connecting sector research with the everyday needs of foundations across the state of Michigan.
What is the best part of your job?
Having the chance to work with people across the state, who share my interest and excitement for philanthropy and foundations. Whether serving as full-time foundation professionals, board members, or enthusiasts, each of them offer fascinating stories and inspiring opportunities for the growth of the sector in Michigan.
Favorite flavor of ice cream?
At the moment, mint chocolate chip.
What music are you streaming?
Depending on my mood and current project, it varies between classical, smooth jazz, and whatever else the “shuffle” button finds in my collection.
Why do you love where you live?
After attending graduate school in Indiana (IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy), I’m really enjoying living back in Michigan. Having grown up here, it’s great to be near family again and work with organizations in my home state.
Favorite book from childhood?
I don’t know that I ever had a favorite childhood book. According to my parents, I simply read everything that I could get my hands on, with the exception of scary stories. Those were well worth avoiding.
When I’m not searching out new resource material for CMF members, you can typically find me reading Christian fiction. I don’t have a favorite book, but I have an incredibly long list of favorite authors.
My husband and I enjoy photography and hiking, whether we’re near home or in other parts of the country. Our dream vacation (and our favorite past vacations) are a mix of outdoor photography and visits to museums and historical sites.
Most of my day is a balance of work and family. In my few leisure moments, I enjoy reading and going on walks with the family.
