Dave Gardiner has served the Council of Michigan Foundations for three years, playing a variety of consulting roles with community foundations including organizational reviews, needs assessments, pre-strategic planning, development plan design and implementation, and leadership development. He has also consulted with Kalamazoo area nonprofits in fundraising, feasibility studies, and capital campaign planning and implementation.
During his four decades of nonprofit leadership, Dave served the Kalamazoo Community Foundation as assistant director and vice president of community investment for 24 years. He served as executive director of a community employment organization for developmentally disabled adults for five years, and as executive director of a multi-purpose neighborhood center focused on community development for eight years.
Dave emphasizes relationship-building, strengths-based facilitation, mentoring, and coaching as characteristics of his consulting style. He enjoys encouraging and reinforcing the individual or group’s skills. He holds an MSW in Policy, Planning and Administration from Western Michigan University.
