How To Register - Instructions

Date: 9/1/2012 - 11/30/2012
Time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Various Locations

A Regional Training brings together members from multiple YACs so that they can collectively receive orientation and learn about the similarities and differences among their YACs. We offer a customizable approach to these trainings--we can conver topics that are most applicable to your YAC, such as best practices, grant simulation, YAC 101, community service, needs assessment, recruitment, youth on boards, fund development, proactive grantmaking, leadership training, project planning, team building, advisor trainings, etc.

We ask that local YAC Members and Advisors decide upon the date, time, location, and content for the training. We (CMF Community Foundation Youth Project Coordinator & the MCFYP Committee) will educate, energize and excite YAC members around the requested areas.  To host a meeting, attend one of the following meetings or for more information, contact Surabhi Pandit.

Current list of meetings:

  • Wednesday, September 19th: 10am-2pm at John Gurney Park, Hart (Muskegon & Oceana YAC)
  • Sunday, September 23rd: 2pm-4pm at Michigan Gateway Community Foundation YAC
  • Sunday, October 14th: 1pm-4pm in Battle Creek (Calhoun County YACs)

Why Regional Trainings?

  • It is extremely important that YAC members are exposed to young people from other YACs in their geographic region
  • New YAC members need to receive an orientation upon beginning membership in the YAC
  • The beginning of a new school year provides an excellent time for a YAC to be re-energized and inspired for the upcoming year’s events
  • Minimum Standards for Compliance require YACs to do orientation for their members, and attending a Regional Training qualifies as meeting that standard

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
