This briefing will provide a special opportunity to learn about and discuss the state’s energy outlook from the leadership perspective of Ms. Valerie Brader, Deputy Legal Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor, Office of Strategic Policy, Office of the Governor. Ms. Brader will share her team’s vision for, and role in, helping to move Michigan forward in its economic turnaround; as well as insights related to the upcoming Governor's Special Message on Energy and the Environment.

Ms. Brader will share her expert insights and fresh perspective regarding Michigan’s energy outlook, including needs, challenges, and opportunities as the state works to move toward an economic turnaround. In this leadership role with the Governor’s Office, Ms. Brader works closely with various agencies and groups, including the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the Michigan Energy Office, business development and entrepreneur service groups, among others, to make energy policy recommendations for the state.
This important role includes helping to inform direction of the Governor’s Special Message on Energy and the Environment scheduled for this Fall of 2012. Following a brief presentation by Ms. Brader, significant time will be provided for open discussion and Q&A. Discussion will include how the efforts her team is involved with fit within the broader state policy and practice landscape; as well as intersections with - and opportunities for - building on the work and interests of others, including the foundation community.
